The 2010 Port Renfrew fishing season is off to a good start. Fishing for both salmon and halibut are going strong, providing the weather is co-operating. Salmon weighing 8 to 20 pounds have been common and halibut from 20 to 125 lbs are also being caught. Come check out some fun south-west Vancouver Island fishing!

Fishing for winter chinook and halibut has been very productive latey salmon weighing 5 to 14 pounds are being caught on a regular basis as well as halibut 20 to 50 pounds . shrimp and crab in basin are good as well . Viciousfishcharters has added a 27ft North west alluminum boat with heated cabin to the fleet i will be posting pictures asap

FISHING IS STILL GOING STRONG !! PLENTY OF LARGE HATCHERY COHO AND THE ODD CHINOOK STILL GETTING CAUGHT. HALIBUT FROM 20 TO 55 POUNDS BEING TAKEN AS WELL . The Fishing on the West Coast of Vancoouver is still going strong (port renfrew) some LARGER coho (slivers) are starting to show up as well as some good sized chinooks and halibut !!

Halibut fishing this weekend was very poductive we had caught over a dozen halibut this weekend during the durby great weather and tides my boat is now in port renfrew and i am all ready for chartering in port renfrew see you out there.

saturday Jan 25 winter chinook fishing and shrimping at its best in sooke /port renfrew

shrimp fishing and salmon fishing off sooke on saturday .We arrived on fishing grounds around 8 am and had exelent fishing all morning untill noon we hooked and realeased 12 nice sized fish and kept 6 approx 10 to 14 pounds then proceded to pull shrimp traps in the Sooke basin . we had our limit of shrimp and prawns in 2 traps . Another productive day in the sooke area!!!

some friends fished off sooke today and caught 4 winter chinooks off sooke bluffs, weather has been getting better but the fog still seems to be looming . Salmon are getting taken at depths around 100 to 135 feet . purple haze squirt, and green/chrome spoons .i still havent made it out to port renfrew yet to fish steelhead but i hear they are starting to show up in most rivers in that area. Fishing off sooke ,victoria waterfront for winter chinooks has been very productive fish getting landed anywhere from 5 to 18 pounds . Halibut is still closed but should be opening in the next couple of months . shrimp ,prawns,and crab has been awsome in the surounding areas of sooke and victoria harbours. i havent been fishing in port renfrew lately due to washed out roads .steelhead fishing has also been a good bet this time of year!!!
